XVIth German International Triennial of Graphic Art Frechen

The invitation to submit entries to the XVIth German International Triennial of Graphic Art Frechen was posted in September 2010. Only professional artists born in 1971 or later were admitted. The submitted works had to be graphic prints, new graphic techniques, like inkjet prints, were accepted as well as traditional techniques like etching, woodcut, linocut, silkscreen, lithography etc. The innovative and artistic quality was crucial. The closing date for entries was 25 January 2011. It was later postponed to 4 February 2011. 507 entries fulfilled the prerequisites, 287 of which came from abroad. A preliminary selection based on the colour reproductions submitted by the participants was made on 5 and 6 February 2011 by the board members.

Secretaries:
Tanya Kindermann, Maja Kozok163 candidates were chosen, 87 from abroad. They were requested to submit the original graphic prints to the admission jury by 11 April 2011.

II. Admission Jury

The admission jury met on 11 May 2011.
The jury comprised the following members:

Prof. Bettina van Haaren
Artist and professor for drawing and graphic printing Dortmund Technical University

Hanna Styrie
Journalist, Brühl.

On the basis of the original graphics, the jury selected 117 works by 52 artists from 14 countries to take part in the exhibition.

III. Laureates

Special awards were granted in the form of three prizes
donated by RWE Power AG (1st and 3rd prize)
TANDEM Lagerhaus und Kraftverkehr Kunst GmbH (2nd prize).

From among the selected works, the admission jury selected the following laureates

of the XVIth German International Triennial of Graphic Art Frechen:

Franca Bartholomäi 1st prize € 2500

Karla Neumeyer (Orlando) 2nd prize € 1500

Monika Grubizna 3rd prize € 1000


Honourable mentions were given to:
